Balance Your Hormones With Seeds

When you become stressed or anxious (or both) it is often your hormones that are one of the first things to go awry.

Whether you are menstruating, postpartum, peri-/ menopause, or post-menopause if your hormones are out of balance then you will feel out of balance.

By boosting  your oestrogen in the first phase of the cycle and your progesterone in the second phase PMS can be relieved, fertility can be increased, pain from conditions like cysts, endometriosis and PCOS can be reduced and you will enjoy better well-being.

The Follicular phase 
Day 1 – 14
Beginning on the first day of your period / or on a new moon

Oestrogen start low at this point and will steadily increase to keep in balance. This is time for you to eat 1 tablespoon of flax seeds (they contain phyto-oestrogen) and 1 tablespoon of pumpkin seeds (which have zinc which is good for the next phase) every day. The Omega 3 fatty acids are beneficial to you as they cab reduce inflammation and support your reproductive system.

The Luteal phase
Day 15 – 28
Beginning on the first day of your period / or on the full moon

Progestrone levels will begin to rise at this point so move to 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, which are high in zinc and selenium, to balances the hormones. Also have 1 tablespoon sunflower seeds as they are high in vitamin E and support your reproductive system.

Keep your seeds in the fridge to keep them fresh, blend into smoothies, add to cereal, salads, pasta, on top of soup / daal, anything, just don’t cook them as their nutrients can damage.
