Chill out

Make time for yourself everyday and that can help keep stress at bay. Stress affects us all in many different ways, some people feel anxious, nervous, others irritable and we all worry.  However, when stress overwhelms one, it is important to address the issues and try and make changes.

The most important thing to remember is that you can help yourself deal with stress better.  Remember to exercise every day, even if it is only doing a few minutes of stretching or walking.  Ideally you should aim to make gentle and regular exercise part of your week, whether it is walking or running, swimming or golf, dancing, yoga or playing with children.  Fresh air is also important by ensuring you are out and about your body will benefit and it will help you feel happier and less stressed.

It sounds obvious but it is important to every day sit quietly and relax even for a few moments. Close your eyes focus on your breathing, relax each muscle in your body, starting with your toes and moving upwards feeling your body unclench and soften.  By doing this daily you will be amazed at how you may be inadvertently tensing muscles, but by consciously relaxing your body you will restore energy, resulting in a less-stressed you.

Most of us don’t drink enough water and are chronically dehydrated, considering we are around 70% water it is really important to keep levels topped up! It’s recommended that you drink 8 – 10 glasses a day, so do it, it really will make you feel better.  You may prefer to drink hot water with a slice of lemon, ginger or a couple of leaves of mint.  Don’t drink tea or coffee more than once or twice a day, as it can make us feel more stressed, try herbal teas, Rooibus tea or ‘Barleycup’ coffee-substitute.

Remember to eat regularly, either 3 meals a day or eating smaller portions every couple of hours, this way you will ensure that your blood sugar level is stable.  Try and eat more of the good things, fresh home cooked foods, and don’t forget lots of fruit, vegetables and salad.  Cut down or cut out rich and fatty or fried foods, and food high in sugar or salt.  A little alcohol once of twice a week can feel relaxing but alcohol will affect the quality of sleep.

Try these simple steps and you should notice some positive changes within a week or two.  If you are still suffering with stress you may benefit from contacting a registered professional Homeopath who can support your emotional health and sense of well-being by working with you to reduce your anxiety levels.

About Me

I come from a family of Homeopaths and grew up enjoying natural health care. In my 20s I developed anxiety, and this quickly became debilitating. Homeopathy was the only thing that helped me. From that experience I was inspired to train as a Homeopath at the Centre for Homeopathic Education. Since 2006 I have been in professional clinical practice.

I am also a trained Foresight per-conception practitioner, Gentle Birth Practitioner and registered with the Society of Homeopaths. As well as my busy award winning clinic, I lecture, mentor and teach.

I offer Homeopathic treatment plans to help and support you to feel happier and healthier naturally. If you want to make improvements in your health, then please get in touch.
