Homeopathy for Menopause

We look at the signs and symptoms of early menopause, perimenopause, and how homeopathy can help. We also review the best homeopathic treatments and remedies available.

What is the Menopause?

Menopause and Perimenopause is a natural part and a development stage in a woman’s life. The menopause is not a disease or a medical problem. It is the point when a woman reaches her maturity, her point of strength and power. It usually occurs between the ages 45 and 55 years of age.

A woman’s hormone levels will change, which includes a drop in oestrogen levels, and she will stop producing eggs. Women can experience a myriad of symptoms like insomnia, hot flushes, hair loss, fibroids, cramps, constipation, headaches and / or weight gain. These symptoms can vary in severity, all can be treated using Homeopathic Menopause remedies and natural health care.

Perimenopause refers to the period of time before Menopause. During Perimenopause, your body is beginning the transition into Menopause, and this can last several months to a few years. That means that hormone production from your ovaries is beginning to decline. You may begin to experience some symptoms commonly associated with Menopause, like hot, flushes, hair loss, fibroids, Menopause cramps, constipation, headaches, low mood, anxiety and or weight gain. Your menstrual cycle may become irregular, but it won’t stop during the Perimenopause stage.

Menopause Truths

Menopause can cause many changes in your body. The symptoms are the result of a decreased production of oestrogen and progesterone in your ovaries. Perimenopause is a transition into Menopause where you can experience symptoms, but these can be supported naturally with Homeopathic medicine. Homeopathic treatment will address your physical, mental, and emotional Perimenopause and Menopause symptoms.

Signs of Early Menopause/ Perimenopause Symptoms

Women will often notice that in their mid to late 40s they start to get hot flushes and or night sweats, which can affect their sleep. Some of my clients have noted even if they do not experience night sweats, they may still have difficulty sleeping, or even suffer from insomnia which can make them feel fatigued.
The libido can also change, this can be coupled with uncomfortable sexual intercourse caused by vaginal dryness.

Brain fog, memory issues and poorer concentration can affect women at a mental level in the Perimenopause. At an emotional level many of my clients report low mood and anxiety. Homeopathic Menopause remedies can help address symptoms at all levels physical, mental, and emotional.

What are the Common Symptoms of Menopause?

Menopause is that stage after Perimenopause. It simply means you haven’t had a menstrual bleed for twelve months. In addition, women can have cramps, hot flashes and or night sweats, or chills. Sleep problems. Constipation. Altered libido and or, vaginal dryness. Hair loss, weight gain and a slower metabolism. On an emotional level, low mood, anxiety, or mood swings can be experienced.

How to Balance your Menopause

There are simple things that you can do help balance your Menopause naturally. Get enough sleep as it is an important factor for hormonal balance. If you suffer from disturbed or poor sleep, then Homeopathic remedies can help with this problem.

Reducing stress levels are important to also help you balance your Menopause. Make time every day to rest and relax, priorities and do something that you enjoy doing daily, whether it is gentle exercise, reading, hobbies etc

Nourish yourself with good food, avoiding sugar and processed food. Instead make sure you are eating regular good quality fats like those in fish, nuts and seeds and plenty of fibre.

Best Homeopathic Treatments for the Menopause

Sepia

This remedy can be helpful if your periods are sometimes late and scanty, but heavy and flooding at other times. Your pelvic organs can feel weak and sagging. Women who need this remedy usually feel dragged-out and weary, with an irritable detachment regarding family members, and a loss of interest in daily tasks. Exercise, especially dancing, may brighten your mood and improve your energy.

Pulsatilla

You might need this remedy if you are usually gentle and emotional, with changeable moods and a tendency toward tears. Periods are often irregular, and can come with queasy feelings, alternating heat and chills, and lack of thirst. You may feel worse for being in a stuffy room, preferring the open air.

Lachesis

This remedy is indicated for you if are suffering with hot flashes, headaches and even fainting. The menstrual bleed is dark and scanty with less flow and more pain. There can be a lot of discharge and heightened sexual desire.

Cimicfuga

You might need Cimicifuga if your menstrual cramps feel like labour pain and your body feels very sensitive. The bleed is heavy with often a backache, the more there is flow the more you feel pain. Migraines can also come on due to hormonal imbalance and you will feel gloomy and a sense of dejection.

Lilium Tigrinum

Lillium Tig is an indicated remedy when you have early, dark menstrual bleeding with a bearing down sensation. The bleed flows only when you are moving. Emotionally there is a sense of business or hurry with anxiety and depression of spirits which can bring on a tendency to fly into rages and make other people “walk on eggs.”
